“It’s OK to Say No!”

Special Projects

Dream Center Peru is not your ordinary Mission Center. We are always looking for different and unique ways to impact communities, build relationships with families, and in turn share the love of Christ with them… Here are some of the projects DCP is currently working on:

Mechanical Cow Project

“Mechanical Cows” are machines that convert soy beans into soy milk.

Dream Center Peru is working in collaboration with Rotary International to distribute donated mechanical cows to high need areas throughout Lima as well as the entire nation of Peru. The distribution and operation of these mechanical cows will increase the nutritional health of the community, create job opportunities, encourage community development and increase social awareness.

Soy milk is high in nutritional value. One glass of Soy milk is equivalent to 4 helpings of meat protein. For every pound of soy beans you can produce 5 liters of soy milk and the machines are capable of producing 100 liters of milk per hour.

Rotary International sponsors a mechanical cow as they determine the need. The cows are purchased in Argentina and after a 15 day boat ride, they arrive in Lima. After working with the local Rotary Clubs, the Peruvian customs and various Government agencies, the cows are released to Dream Center Peru for distribution to prearranged locations.

Those within the community are trained to use and manage the machine. They are encouraged to sell the milk to local schools and hospitals as well as supply the community with an affordable daily supply of nutritionally rich milk.

We have 3 mechanical cows currently operating in the Lima area:

Dream Center Peru operates a mechanical cow to supply all interns with a daily supply of milk. In addition, this cow is used within the leadership training school in order for interns to understand the workings of the mechanical cow and to understand how a community could benefit.

Los Olivos has been using their mechanical cow in the community kitchen since March 2005. During the first year of operation, the ladies who work in the kitchen have achieved several things including supplying milk to almost 1500 recipients, selling bread made from the okara (soy bean byproduct), laying concrete for the kitchen’s floor and added a children’s community library which is available after hours.

Bolognesi has a mechanical cow which has been in operation since October 2005. Within the first several months, a local church instituted a community feeding program and is supplying milk daily to surrounding communities.
