Bringing Action to God’s House…
Action House Peru is a program aimed at teaching youth from all over Peru how to reach other youth through drama, music, dance, multimedia, mime, etc… Through Action House Peru, Dream Center Peru interns and other youth are taught to change their nation through the performing and visual arts.
Action House Peru gives youth the opportunity to travel on mission teams all over the nation of Peru, teaching dramas and dances to other churches, leadership schools, and pastors and performing in evangelistic events. Youth are taught how to evangelize to their peers, bringing the gospel to the streets and the un-reached people of Peru.
Here are just a few of the opportunities that Action House Peru has had to reach the youth of Peru in the last year:
Uripa, Apurimac
They all thought choreographies, dramas, and skits it could not be used as instruments to reach people for Christ. They were prohibited to watch TV and girls were not allowed to wear pants. The AHP team was used to open the eyes of those blinded by the law and to bring a new anointing to the small town of 2 DCP interns. One of which, Elias, commented, “So many had been abused sexually and they started to open their hearts when they began remembering what had happened in their life. Many of them shared their testimonies for the first time, and they learned that by doing this, they are set free.”
Jockey Plaza, Lima
DCP united with other organizations to raise funds for Ver Para Aprender (To See is To Learn) specifically for Peruvian kids who cannot afford to buy eyeglasses. The 2 days included skits, a kids show, face painting, balloons, and chocolates for over 6,000 people. DCP intern, Alberto said, “From my point of view it was surprising to see all the upper class kids have fun with the program. I was able to see that I was amongst the upper class and it was nice to serve.”
San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima
The Action House Peru didn’t have to think twice about DCP graduate’s request to do an abuse prevention event with her church. Aldo, Senior Video Editor, said, “I was really glad to have been able to participate in the event as an emcee. At first there were very few people but later more came. I really felt that I needed to give it my all and put my nerves aside. I could really see how the people paid so much attention to the Message that we were giving, and it was good to see how God touched the hearts of these people. Many people gave their life to Christ that day and I felt really proud to be part of Action House which is a channel of blessing to the youth.”
Jesus Maria, Lima
“They thought we were mysterious because they weren’t sure what we were going to do. When we presented the drama “Heart” everyone was left astounded,” DCP intern, Freddy said. At the Night of Shaba, everyone was culturally dressed and the songs were different. Both the Action House Peru team as well as the worship team participated and learned that they also need new experiences.
Zapallal, Lima
The delinquents and gangs were going to stop the Action House Peru team from doing the abuse prevention event and spreading the Word of God. The music was a huge hit with all the teenagers and for the kids with their parents. Hanel said, “There were a lot of people, and at first a lot of the teenagers didn’t want to participate but gained confidence as time went by. Through the music, all the teenagers could understand that they could also have a relationship with God.”
San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima
Dramas which portrayed sexual abuse caused many to reflect on current problems and pointed them to their only answer – Jesus! About half of the crowd included youth which was the target audience. “It was really spectacular to see how God touched the lives of so many people. The dramas and dances impacted the people. It really touched everyone to see the different ways to serve God. You could really see the need for Jesus in this place,” said Jairo, a DCP intern from Paramonga.
Villa el Salvador, Lima
First the children came, then the adults. In the sandy hills of Villa el Salvador, DCP held an event to initiate a new area of ministry. Ronald said, “Before the show even began there were already people surrounding the place. We were able to use the Word in all that we did from dances to dramas portraying sexual abuse.”
Santa Ana, Junin
“I was a bit nervous because it was my first time traveling with the group of Action House Peru,” Jacob said. “The best part was when I gave a message for the very first time.” This event reached out to the jungle city of a DCP graduate with a sexual abuse prevention campaign.
Miraflores, Lima
Minute by minute, people entered and sat to watch the program Action House Peru had prepared with dramas, choreographies, skits, and most importantly the message. Many lives were edified at this FourSquare evangelistic event. Nerio, a DCP intern, was in charge of sound at this event and commented, “It was cool because the Spirit of God really moved and people accepted God. We went to help out the Lima Foursquare Church with dances and dramas and we were blessed by the people of this church.”
